
International Poetry Slam-Leslye Friedberg
A team of talented students and faculty participated in the Association
of College Unions International Poetry Slam Invitational on March 12-13 on the campus of University of Pennsylvania.
The student poets, Alisha Dantzler, Sappho Fulton, Antwan ”Lindo”
Jones, and Stephen Luckers, along with faculty member and poet, Dr.
Michelle Myers, comprised our first-ever team entered in this
competition.The team coach was Asst. Professor, Leslye Friedberg.
We were one of thirty-three teams representing colleges and universities from
all over the country. Our team competed for two days in the preliminary
rounds against University of Wisconsin-Madison, Brandeis University,
Howard University, and Dartmouth to name only a few.

While we did not advance to the semi-finals, team members benefitted
from this exciting experience which showcased their writing,
performance, and creative skills, as well the pride and recognition of
participating in a national poetry slam.
