Contemporary Exercises in Criminal Law
Marie A. Daniel Esquire’s book Contemporary Exercises in Criminal Law was published in 2010 by Cengage Learning. It is currently being used in two JUS 241 Criminal Law classes at CCP. The book is designed to increase student engagement by incorporating work-related skills into the curriculum in order to prepare students for their criminal justice careers. By using uniquely designed exercises and highly engaging activities, students develop critical work-related skills. One example of a critical skill that is developed through this publication is that of “issue spotting.” This skill is critical whether you want to practice law, enter law enforcement, draft legislation or work in probation or parole. A favorite exercise to develop this skill is finding “Crimes in the Nursery Rhymes.” Marie A. Daniel obtained a license to practice law from both New Jersey (1998) and Pennsylvania (1999). As an Asst. Professor (in Justice), she does not currently practice due to the obvious potential conflicts with class scheduling and trial litigation. She formerly practiced law in both PA and NJ in the areas of criminal defense, juvenile law, civil litigation and family law.
