Spoken Word-Leslye Friedberg

 

 

Students and faculty from the Spoken Word Poetry Club and ’the CAP 
literary magazine’ collaborated on a presentation at the Community 
College Humanities Association Conference in Baltimore on November 1, 
2008.

Stephen Luckers, Professor Michelle Myers, Steve Calvarese, Kim 
Hartsfield-Stokes, Professor Leslye Friedberg, Jarell Currie, and 
Antwan (Lindo) Jones presented a conference session titled ”Spiriting 
Student Voices: Poetry as Cocurricular Community.”
Students performed/read their poems, and this was followed by a 
discussion of how poetry in written form and as performance enhances 
overall academic skills, self-confidence, and social interactions.
